Cheep!

Lucinda Guy is a genius. none I haven't named this little gal yet...but she's a sweetie. Yarn: Rowan Cotton Glace Needles: US 3 Pattern: Birdie from Lucinda Guy's Handknits for Kids none none Yeah, the crocheted eyes are a bit buggy. But I like to think of her as just alert. none The real problematic part of this pattern is the sheer number of pieces you have to knit up. Wanna see? none See those innocent looking spikey things in the upper right? Ahhh...the torture! The suffering! The agony! For such little pieces they sure are a pain in the bloody arse. Cast on...cast off...join yarn...cast off...and on and on and on. I love ya Lucinda, but I'm begging you to think of a better way to create a cute tail. If this little thing ever gets a sister (which I think it must...after all, if one is cute a whole flock would be reeeeeeeeeallly cute) I'm giving it a half-moon tail. Fluted edges should be left for pies (mmmm...pie). And yes, I steam blocked all the pieces. It was one of the tips I picked up in my seaming class. But Many Pieces + Many Corners = a blocking PITA. Was it worth it? Oh yeah. And for my husband (not that he reads this) it's a BIRD not a fish! :p

Suzanne...check out madronafiberarts.com for the Winter Retreat in Tacoma...I've signed up for the dinner and the speaker, Sally Melville on Saturday night, Feb. 11th. It would be a blast if you were there.
